Hampton Roads base guide: five installations, two housing areas
Five installations anchor most Hampton Roads orders. Three sit in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, one across the Elizabeth River in Portsmouth, and one on the Peninsula in Hampton, with its Army half at Fort Eustis. Gate hours below were read on each installation's own page on October 9, 2026. None of those pages shows a last-updated date, so check the page again the week you report.
Naval Station Norfolk
Listed at 1530 Gilbert Street, Bldg. N 26, Norfolk, VA 23511-2722. Its stated role is supporting the operational readiness of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. ZIP 23511 maps to VA298. One driving rule from the installation listing: on Navy installations a hand-held phone may not be used behind the wheel unless the vehicle is safely parked.

Only Gates 2 and 22 stay open around the clock and on weekends; every other gate shuts on weekends and holidays, and Gate 10 is a morning, inbound-only gate. The page adds: "Gate hours may be adjusted if operational commitments deem necessary." The town-page commutes on this site that end at the naval station use Gate 2.

NAS Oceana and Dam Neck Annex
Listed at 1750 Tomcat Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23460-2191, in VA298. The installation listing groups three sites under one FAA drone prohibition: NAS Oceana, NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex in Virginia Beach, and Naval Auxiliary Landing Field Fentress in Chesapeake. All three are National Defense Airspace under NOTAM 7/7282 of April 7, 2017. For a family with a recreational drone, that rule follows the household to all three sites.

Oceana's official pages publish no gate hours. The main gate is on Tomcat Blvd., and the Pass and Decal Office is the first building on the right before it. The Virginia Beach page measures its Oceana drive to Google's Main Gate pin on Tomcat Blvd.

Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story
The quarterdeck is listed at 1815 Seabee Dr, Building CB310, Virginia Beach, VA 23459-3297, also VA298. The Army side has a reporting wrinkle: Fort Story's 11th Transportation Battalion is subordinate to Fort Eustis, which the listing puts about 50 miles away. Army personnel assigned to Fort Story in-process at Fort Eustis first, and the assignment can change at in-processing. A soldier with Fort Story on the orders should not sign a lease before that step.

The page gives no street locations for these gates. Gates 1 and 5 contradict themselves, listing Saturday hours and also closing on weekends, so treat Saturday access through them as unconfirmed.

Joint Base Langley-Eustis
Langley is listed at 11 Nealy Ave, Hampton, VA 23665, in VA297. The 633rd Air Base Wing became Langley's host unit on January 7, 2010, the first step toward the joint base. It supports more than 9,000 military and civilian personnel, including Headquarters Air Combat Command and three operational wings. Fort Eustis is known for Army Transportation, Army Aviation and as home to T2COM. Its duty ZIP is not confirmed here yet, so read the VA297 table only for a Langley ZIP until it is.

Trusted-traveler escort privileges have been suspended since November 1, 2023. A guest without a DoD ID needs a sponsor and a stop at the Visitor Control Center. LaSalle and Eustis Gate 1 are the two around-the-clock gates; the Hampton and Newport News pages measure their drives to them.

Norfolk Naval Shipyard
The installation listing files the shipyard under Naval Support Activity Portsmouth, Bldg 1500, Portsmouth, VA 23709-1022, in VA298. Service members reporting there must check in during normal business hours.
